Biography

Starting from a project on Barry Likumahuwa's Goodspell album, throughout his musical career, he has performed as a bassist for artists such as Glenn Fredly, Tangga, Andien, Marcell, Dewi Sandra, and was also part of the Bass Heroes compilation album. From 2006 to 2008, Barry was endorsed by CART and conducted a series of clinic tours across various regions in Indonesia. Since 2008, he has been endorsed by G&I Bass, Gallien-Krueger Amps, Digitech Pedals, and DR Strings. In November 2006, Barry founded the Barry Likumahuwa Project (BLP) — a reflection of his musical idealism, blending Jazz Fusion and Funk/Soul rhythms with jazz harmonies and melodies, infused with an energetic rock & roll stage presence. The band consists of young, talented musicians ready to deliver a musical experience that leaves a lasting impression. The Barry Likumahuwa Project lineup includes: Barry Likumahuwa (electric bass), Henry Budidharma (electric guitar), Dennis Junio (alto saxophone), Donny Joersan (keyboards, piano), Jonas Wang (drums), and Matthew Sayersz (vocals). In 2012, Matthew departed from BLP to pursue a solo career, and since 2015, BLP has continued without a permanent lead vocalist. Over the years, they have performed at many major events, including: The 8th JakJazz Festival (November 2006), The 3rd Java Jazz Festival (March 2007), Soul for Indonesian Earth (July 2007), Jazz at the Bimasena (August 2007), The 9th JakJazz Festival, The 30th Jazz Goes to Campus (organized by the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia), The 4th Java Jazz Festival, The 6th Taichung International Jazz Festival (Taichung, Taiwan), The 5th Java Jazz Festival, Bangkok Jazz Festival, The 31st Jazz Goes to Campus, The 10th JakJazz Festival, Ambon Jazz Plus Festival, Publika Jazz Festival (Malaysia), Iskandar Puteri Jazz Festival, 2024...
