Biography

Papua Original Sound of The East was founded in 2004 and continues to this day as an Ethnic Groove band that consistently incorporates local languages into a wide range of genres—from soul, funk, pop, and Latin to world music. At every performance, whether on national or international stages, we always include the Papuan language, as culture is our identity. Through our music, we aim to give our culture a unique place in the hearts of music lovers in Indonesia and around the world. From 2007 to 2025, we have performed at numerous concerts, ranging from state events and national festivals to international stages in places like Perth, New Zealand, and other Pacific countries. One of our proudest moments was in 2018 when we were invited by Java Production to perform at the Java Jazz Festival. We’ve also taken part in other major festivals, including Prambanan Jazz Festival, Maumere Jazz Festival, Ngayogjazz, and Solo City Jazz Festival. In 2025, we are honored once again to be invited to perform at the Java Jazz Festival, where we will present a new and exciting show for all our audience.
