Biography

SOVA was an innovative electronic music duo from Jakarta, Indonesia, comprising Lawrence Aswin and Edward Andez, both alumni of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Their deep musical expertise allowed them to craft a unique blend of house, nu-jazz, broken beat, and lounge music, making them one of the most respected acts in Indonesia’s electronic music scene. Their breakthrough came in 2004, when they were honored as MTV Exclusive Artist of the Month, introducing their sophisticated and soulful sound to a wider audience. SOVA’s music was known for its deep grooves, intricate melodies, and a seamless fusion of electronic production with live instrumentation. This innovative approach helped them stand out in the local and international electronic music landscape. 
Their debut album, Tempo Tantrum, featured their first major hit, “Biarkanlah Aku”, which became a fan favorite and helped establish their reputation. They continued to evolve their sound with their second album, Selayang Jingga, which included the standout track “Swargaloka”, showcasing their signature blend of electronic and organic elements. Beyond their studio work, SOVA was celebrated for their immersive live performances, often blending DJ sets with live musicians to create an unforgettable musical experience. Their influence extended beyond Indonesia, earning them international recognition and opportunities to perform at prestigious events and collaborate with renowned artists. Although SOVA is currently on hiatus, their legacy remains strong in the Indonesian electronic and house music scene.
