Simakdialog

After the passing of keyboardist and composer Riza Arshad in 2017, Simakdialog continued as a collective to preserve and develop his musical vision. Founded in 1993, the group is known for its innovative blend of jazz and Indonesian traditional music, especially after introducing Sundanese kendang as a core rhythmic element. Over time, musicians including pianist Sri Hanuraga helped carry the group forward.

Simakdialog has released multiple acclaimed albums, toured internationally, and won several music awards. Their project GONG reflects Riza Arshad vision of experimental jazz rooted in Indonesian sound traditions. Even after his passing, the group continues developing unfinished works and expanding the GONG series as a continuation of his artistic legacy.
